The first issue of 2022 from the Philatelic Bureau in Barbados, is one featuring a mainstay of the island, Barbados Pottery. The art of pot making on Barbados dates back to the 17th century and has previously featured on the stamps from the island.
This new set was issued on 23rd October 2022 and are available now from Post Offices on the island, whilst being mailed out to account customers currently, meaning they will be available in collections in the next couple of weeks.
I first trailed the fact that a new issue was coming back in April of this year, but the amount of research required to complete the new ‘Gullies of Barbados’ series, which are the stamps that were expected, means that this Pottery issue has arrived first.
My copies are currently in the post, but in advance of them arriving I’ve been sent a scan of the whole set which you can see here, and they look fabulous. I’m immediately drawn to the 10c as it shows items from Earthworks Pottery, which anyone who has visited the island can’t fail to have noticed. When the stamps arrive, I’ll do a more detailed post with a write up of every stamp.
