Barbados was busy in November and December.
First there was the build up the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, then, as the day arrived the island suffered awful flooding. Undeterred, the island partied long and hard and then immediately the Bureau were preparing the Centenarians issue (more of that in a week or so) and Christmas arrived. Naturally post was delayed so it’s only now, in early January, that the Independence issues have arrived here in the UK.
As we said in our earlier post, they are not a disappointment, with a range of six stamps and a souvenir sheet along with First Day Covers to match.
So, here are the actual stamps;
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence 10c stamp – Transportation
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence 65c stamp – Education
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence $1.00 stamp – Manufacturing
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence $1.50 stamp – Sports
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence $1.80 stamp – Agriculture
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence $2.20 stamp – Tourism
Barbados Stamps 50th Anniversary of Independence $8.00 mini sheet – Errol Walton Barrow celebrating Independence in 1966
Finally, we have First Day Covers for the set of stamps and the Souvenir Sheet;
Happy 50th Anniversary Barbados and this is a great set with which to celebrate.
